Step 1: Turning on and enabling Wi-Fi direct

  1. Plug in power for printer and turn on
  2. From the top of the printer’s touchscreen, swipe down to open the Dashboard.
  3. Tap the Wi-Fi Direct icon.
  4. Tap the Settings gear.
  5. Select Wi-Fi Direct and switch it to On.
  6. Swipe down and click on the 3rd button that shows a phone, computer logo to show the Wi-Fi details

The printer will display:

  • The Wi-Fi Direct network name, such as DIRECT-AB-HP OfficeJet 250
  • The Wi-Fi Direct password: xxxxx

Tip: Always use the password displayed on the printer. Depending on the printer's connection settings, the password may be automatically generated.

 

iPhone or iPad instructions

Step 2: Connect the Apple Device to the Printer

  1. Open settings on the iPhone or iPad
  2. Tap Wi-Fi
  3. Within "Networks", select the network with "Direct-xx-xxxxxxx"
  4. Enter the Wi-Fi Direct password shown on the printer
  5. Wait for a checkmark to appear next to the DIRECT network

Tip: A "No Internet Connection" warning may appear. Remain connected to the printer network

Step 3: Print from the iPhone or iPad

  1. Open the email, document, webpage, or picture that you want to print.
  2. Tap the Share button or the application’s menu button.
  3. Select Print.
    1. You may need to scroll through the available actions to find Print.
  4. Tap No Printer Selected or Printer.
  5. Select the HP OfficeJet 250.
  6. Select the desired options, such as:
    • Number of copies
    • Paper size
    • Page range
    • Color or black and white
    • Orientation
  7. Tap Print

 

Samsung phone or tablet instructions

Step 2: Enable a Printing Service

Before printing for the first time, verify that a printing service is enabled.

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Search for Printing, or go to:
    Connections > More connection settings > Printing
  3. Turn on Default Print Service if it detects the printer.

If the printer is not detected:

  1. Tap Download plugin.
  2. Install the HP Print Service Plugin from the Google Play Store.
  3. Return to the Printing settings.
  4. Select HP Print Service Plugin and turn it on.

Step 3: Connect the Samsung Device to the Printer

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Tap Connections.
  3. Tap Wi-Fi.
  4. Select the network beginning with: DIRECT-
  5. Enter the Wi-Fi Direct password shown on the printer.
  6. Remain connected if the phone reports that the network does not provide internet access.

Step 4: Print from the Samsung Device

  1. Open the document, email, webpage, or picture that you want to print.
  2. Tap the application’s Menu button, usually shown as three dots.
  3. Tap Print.
    • In some applications, select Share, followed by Print.
  4. Tap Select printer at the top of the print screen.
  5. Select the HP OfficeJet 250.
  6. Adjust the print settings as needed.
  7. Tap the Print icon.
