Printer Checklist

Description

There are many factors as to why a printer may go offline. Ranging from incorrect network configuration to hardware. This guide will help you determine what is the cause.

Features/Steps

  1. Have user check the Ethernet port on the back of the printer, there will be two lights lighting up. 
  2. Double check that the Ethernet cable is all the way in
  3. Swap out Ethernet cable with another one, if there is an extra one on site
  4. Using Meraki/WhatsUp, connect to the printer via Edge/Chrome. 
  5. If you cannot connect to the printer via browser. Go back to Meraki, find the location, switch and find the printer. 
  • For asphalt plants and agg sites. Printers must be using port #13 to #24 in order to work.

  1. If the cable is not on the correct port, have operator go from one port to another. 
  2. Print out network configuration page from the printer and have the user send you a picture of the page. Compare the IP from Meraki/WhatsUp and what type of configuration method it is set on. Configuration method must be set on Manual
  3. If the IP is not correct, connect to the printer via browser and reconfigure the network settings. 
  4. Go onto WhatsUp, the ring around the printer will change from red to green. 
  5.  If printer still says offline on Windows, reset the computer.

Use Meraki and WhatsUP for network information, this will show you the IP of the printer if the IP is incorrect.
